Oxi: Ну не знаю, на прошлогоднем ЧЕ Керры набрали на 55,6 баллов больше, чем вторая британская пара Phillipa TOWLER-GREEN / Phillip POOLE, и соответственно, 5 и 23 место. Но на их национальном чемпионате, наверное, немалую роль играет и то, что Phillipa TOWLER - дочь очень известной, даже выдающейся танцовщицы Дианы Таулер. Посмотрим, как будет на Европе в этом году.
Mila: Well, I still know nothing about ice dance obviously, because I just can't see how such a program filled with tech can score lower than what I saw being skated. As hubby says, they always seem to be looking for a way to penalise S&J. Was the make-up more blue than usual? Does that make it a violation? Does skin/makeup colour affect skating technique? My 75 year old mum (non-skating!) said when I told her: "I thought they were being judged on their skating...?" Well, if the public think it was weird judging before, they could have a great time with this! LOL. Mila: Hi Guys, Sinead and I were obviously very happy to claim our 5th consecutive British title this week. We were pretty happy with all 3 of our performances but obviously we had some concerns about the way in which our Free Dance was 'called' by the Technical panel. Our first lift was called a combo lift instead of a curve lift meaning that our last lift received no points. Whether this decision was correct or not is a matter of opinion but we performed the same lift at 2 Grand Prix events and we had no problems with it being called as a curve lift at those 2 events. Also, we received a costume violation for, we presume, excessive eye make up. Make-up of that what you will!?! Pardon the pun. Suffice to say that we will be endeavuoring to make sure we don't have any similar problems at European championships in a week's time. Thanks again to everyone who supported us and all the other skaters during the event - we really appreciated your support and we hope you will come again next year. Они удивлены тех.судейством и тем, что их первую поддержку назвали комбиниованной,а не по дуге, и поэтому за вторую не дали баллов. Ну и по поводу мейкапа высказались тоже, но деликатно. Там была игра слов, но это на русский непереводимо. Они усиленно готовятся, чтобы через неделю все было типтоп Поблагодарили всех, кто пришел на трибуны за них болеть.

Или они их специально решили разозлить, раскочегарить перед ЧЕ? В правилах ИСУ прописано какой должна быть косметика? Каждый сходит с ума по своему. А что, у них по телеку не показывали соревнования? Видео не будет?
Mila: Вроде не показывали Судьи заявили, что яркий макияж отвлекал ои восприятия танца. Может, там вспышка ящура в Англии и на мозги влияет? Сходи и принеси статью с сайта ребят, ладно? - Там сказано, что единственной ошибкой в обязательном было падение шарфика с шеи Джонв в конце проката. Это лежит в статьях за 2008 год в форуме ( где стоит знак CD)

The Scottish brother and sister team swept to victory by nearly 50 points - the equivalent of winning a golf tournament by 10 shots, or a football match 7-0. Such unchallenged supremacy does little for the Kerrs, who realise that the future well-being of their sport in Britain has to depend on the efforts of more than one couple, who are likely to retire after the 2010 Winter Olympics. Which explains why John Kerr, at 26, is pleased by the emergence of another ice dancing Scot in the guise of 22-year-old Mark Hanretty from Glasgow, who has formed a transatlantic partnership with Christina Chitwood from Colorado, and whose recent exploits have convinced Kerr that genuine progress is being made beneath the top flight. "It wouldn't be healthy if we kept winning by as big a margin as we did last time," he said, "and that's why it is good to see the likes of Mark and Christina arrive on the senior circuit to challenge us, along with established pairs like Philippa Towler-Green and Philip Poole." He was fresh from a whistle-stop tour of Europe with his older sister, during which they performed in front of capacity crowds in Germany, Italy and Switzerland. "The best scenario is the British Championships becoming closer every season, with everybody improving their scores," he added. "Our PB tally has risen by more than 20 points this season in Japan and we have to keep that momentum going in advance of the European Championships in Zagreb later this month and then the Worlds in Gothenburg in March. "It's a hectic schedule, but we are used to it, and our preparations have gone smoothly. We feel that we have learned from our experiences in the 2006-07 campaign, where we maybe got too tied up in setting ourselves all kinds of targets. Basically, this year, we want to defend our title in Sheffield, then a top-five finish in the Europeans is an absolute minimum, before we aim for significant improvement at world level, which means no worse than tenth and, we hope, better than that." The Kerrs have always been a breath of fresh air in their domain, eschewing the psychobabble which is the lingua franca of so many of their contemporaries. John, for instance, is concerned by the changes made to the judging system which seem to favour efficient sterility rather than radical adventure. What's more, he is also prepared to discuss the issue of whether the markers are, as many observers have long suspected, not entirely impartial when it comes to adjudicating on their compatriots. "I'm not saying they do it consciously, but there is a definite bias towards the big, established countries such as the US, Russia and Canada," he said. "The authorities have to work to ensure that everybody gets the same treatment because, if you come from one of the lesser-ranked nations, you tend to be up against it." That is not the biggest problem in the sport at the moment, though, according to Kerr. "We have to examine the new marking system," he said, "because, as things stand, it encourages uniformity, and the powers-that-be need to understand that audiences will not continue to pay their money to attend the big events if they are boring and regimented and everybody is dancing to the same tune. "You can see with the success of programmes like Strictly Come Dancing that the public wants variety, thrilling routines. What they don't want is people playing safe and sending spectators to sleep." The Kerrs could never be accused of robotic repetition but, while they are guaranteed a lucrative future in the ice-show domain, their priority remains the pursuit of an Olympic medal two years from now.

The brother and sister, who originate from Livingston in West Lothian but live and train in the United States, performed a strong Yankee Polka that was in a different league to the rest of the field and they look on course to claim their fifth national title when the competition ends tomorrow. Their only flaw was when John’s scarf came undone and fell to the ice as he swept Sinead off her feet during their final flourish. This mishap incurred a deduction of 1.0 from their overall score, but costume problems aside it was difficult to find fault with their showing. The Kerrs said afterwards that they were pleased with their performance. “I think the Yankee Polka suits our characters because we’re known for being bouncy and energetic,” Sinead said. “We’ll be doing the same compulsory dance in two weeks’ time at the European Championships \, so it’s great that we were able to do it here. We’re pretty pleased with how we did and now we’ll be working hard to get the dance even better before the Europeans.” John said that he, too, was happy with their skating and felt enthusiastic about being in front of a British audience. “The dance was fun, apart from the problem with my scarf,” he said. “I think we did the best we could and it’s great to skate in front of a British crowd. They’re always very supportive, which is wonderful.” Phillipa Towler-Green and Phillip Poole, last year’s runners-up, from Streatham, South London, are second, a place ahead of Louise Walden and Owen Edwards, from Deeside, Wales.
